Reef Watch values the monitoring information provided by divers. The safety of divers is a primary concern of the project. Reef Watch requires that all divers who provide data to, or are involved with, the Reef Watch project must hold a Scuba Diver Certification issued by a recognised Scuba Diver Training Organisation.

Reef Watch, Museum Victoria, Coast Action/Coastcare, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the State of Victoria, the Commonwealth of Australia, the Australian Marine Conservation Society and the Marine and Coastal Community Network, are not legally responsible for any accident, injury or loss incurred during diving activities that are intended to provide information for the Reef Watch project.
