Tosia magnifica

Class Asteroidea

A star shaped, firm bodied sea star with numerous plates on the upper surface. Tosia magnifica has 8-20 plates along each of its body margins, this compares to 6 plates on T. australis. Common in Victorian bays, it grazes in the open on small living plants and microbes.
